  • This paper introduces the basic principles of discrete element method.Universal Distinct Element Code (UDEC) was applied to numerically simulate the bolt -shotcrete effect of a certain mine's jointed rock mass.The bolt-shotcrete support had favorable results on jointed rock mass timbering, especially on those that failure process for the wedge-shaped block.It was also confirmed that UDEC is particularly suitable for simula-tion of large deformation of discontinuous rock mass.
