On the Anchorage of Engineering Rock by Applying Discrete Element Method

This paper introduces the basic principles of discrete element method.Universal Distinct Element Code (UDEC) was applied to numerically simulate the bolt -shotcrete effect of a certain mine's jointed rock mass.The bolt-shotcrete support had favorable results on jointed rock mass timbering, especially on those that failure process for the wedge-shaped block.It was also confirmed that UDEC is particularly suitable for simula-tion of large deformation of discontinuous rock mass.
