Bulkhead stress analysis in filling cemented tailings and its practical application

  • The stability of bulkhead is important to the safety in the process of cemented filling. According to practical situation of the project, the distribution regularity and characteristics of forces on bulkhead in filling were obtained by measuring its lateral stress on the spot. The experiment proved that the stress on the bulkhead was influenced by hydrostatic pressure, hydrodynamic pressure and swelling force of filling slurry. Its stress reaches the greatest in the final filling stage, which is most easily broken. Calculation resulting from formulae fits part of test data satisfactorily. Reasonable thickness of bulkhead has been obtained from the above mentioned study.
