Abstract:
A cobalt oxide mine in Congo is soil weathering crust cobalt deposit. The mineral composition is complicated, despite its high concentration (1.64 %). Much of cobalt exists as adsorb and embed crystalloid in clay mineral which includes manganiferous mixed crystalloid. After preliminary scour classification, the low grade ore (-0.125 mm)was removed. Applying SLon Magenetic Separator on the remaining ore for small-scaled experiments, the raw cobalt concentrate, with cobalt grade 7.82 %, cobalt recovery rate 59.43 %, SLon Magnetic Separator recovery rate 81.16 % which can be used in hydrometallurgy directly, was obtained.
