Abstract:
With the dramatic increase in titanium resource shortages, titanium-bearing solid waste has played a key role in titanium resource utilization. Consequently, it is significant to investigate and review the development status of recycling and utilizing titanium-bearing solid waste. This paper summarized the primary sources, composition, and resource utilization of titanium-bearing solid waste, with an emphasis on recycling methods. According to the characteristics of titanium-containing solid waste, its resource utilization could be categorized into non-titanium extraction utilization and titanium extraction utilization. Non-titanium extraction utilization was primarily applied to low-titanium-beaning solid waste, achieving large-scale consumption by converting it into construction materials, metallurgical additives, roadbed substrates, etc. Titanium extraction and utilization mainly involved obtaining titanium oxides and titanium alloys through pyrometallurgical recovery, hydrometallurgical recycling, and molten salt electrolysis methods, enabling the recovery and reuse of titanium. The effective utilization of titanium-bearing solid waste would facilitate the sustainable development of titanium resource recycling and achieve high-value applications for such waste.
