Abstract:
With complex component structure and fine embedded particle size, tantalum-niobium ore has low grade, and its beneficiation process is complicated. To solve the difficulty in recovering and utilizing tantalum and niobium as the result of their low content in the Yichun tantalum-niobium tailings, this study conducted sorting experiments on the tantalum-niobium tailings using a high gradient magnetic separator and shaking table. The results showed that for tantalum-niobium tailings with a Ta
2O
5 grade of 0.013 4% and a Nb
2O
5 grade of 0.007 8%, the combined process with magnetic separation and gravity separation can be employed for enrichment, resulting in a tantalum-niobium concentrate with a Ta
2O
5 grade of 11.286% and a recovery of 40.74%, a Nb
2O
5 grade of 6.633% and the same recovery. With good experimental indicators and relatively high recovery rates, the result demonstrated the feasibility of magnetic gravity combined process which provides an environmentally friendly method of recovering tantalum-niobium ore, and offering favorable technical support for the comprehensive recovery of this kind ore and similar resources.
