Abstract:
The effects of Y substitution on the phase composition, magnetic properties, intergrain exchange coupling and microstructure of (Pr
0.25Nd

6 alloy fabricated by melt spinning were studied. It is found that a proper amount of Y substitution can inhibit the formation of Fe
3B phase and improve the thermal stability of coercivity. When 30 % of Pr and Nd is replaced by Y, the Curie temperature of the alloy only slightly decreases from 307 ℃ to 302 ℃. The substitution of Y can refine the grain size and help to improve the microstructure of the alloy. In addition, Y substitution can also enhance the exchange coupling interaction between main phase grains.
