Abstract:
Triaxial tests were performed under different wall rock conditions by applying RTS-500 triaxial rheometer. The peak stress and its changing rule under triaxial confining pressure were determined. The rock variation of
c,
φ value were calculated in accordance with the Mohr-Coulomb strength theory. Furthermore, the strength and deformation characteristics of quartz schist were analyzed. The results show that the rock demonstrate brittle characteristics under low confining pressure with non-uniformed rock internal heterogeneity. The rock specimen is observed in a changing tendency from low to high yield at high confining pressure with uniformed internal characteristics. The rock tends to transform from brittle to plastic features. The peak strain and confining pressure of rock show a significant linear relationship. The sensitivity of the residual strength of the rock is obviously higher than the peak strength. Moreover, the experiments of RTS-500 rock rheometer system is precise and reliable.
