Abstract: The production process，waste water treatment technology，current situation of pollutant discharge of enterprises involving iron or manganese was investigated. The water of current polluted rivers in typical iron or manganese contaminated area of Hunan province was sampled and analysised. Refering to the foreign iron and manganese limits of discharge waste water，this standard prescribes that the limit of iron in wastewater discharged from existing enterprises is 10mg/L，the limit of iron in wastewater discharged from new enterprises is 5mg/L，and the limit of manganese in wastewater discharged from enterprises is 1mg/L.
