Abstract:
The tests on feeding of solid pure-calcium cored wires in refining ladle of the second Converter Plant of Xinyu Iron & Steel Co., Ltd were introduced. The result showed that the average of Ca yield was increased by 11.8 % and the Ca treatment cost reduced by 3.14 yuan/t. Wire jamming, disconnecting and other unusual circumstances did not appear in the process of feeding. By field test and thermodynamic analysis, the relationship between the calcium solid core wire speed and the weight of the liquid steel was deduced in theory that when feeding solid core pure calcium wires with external diameter of 9 mm, the best feeding speed for 230 t ladle was 2.3 m /s .
