Abstract:
neodymium color powder was synthesized by molten salt method with the neodymium chloride (NdCl
3·6H
2O) and caustic soda (NaOH) as raw materials, using sulfate as flux respectively. The influence factors on the morphology and crystal form, including the type and amount of molten salt, sintering conditions and additives incorporation were investigated. The color powder was characterized by optical microscope, SEM, XRD, and ICP. The results show that, neodymium color powder can be prepared by molten salt method at 900~1 200 ℃ for three hours using Na
2SO
4-K
2SO
4 as flux respectively. The molar ration of molten salt and color powder is 4:1 with good pearlescent and discoloration effects.
