Abstract: As a stabilizer, sintering aid and modifier in the ZrO₂ ceramics, rare earth oxides can greatly enhance the strength and toughness, lower the sintering temperature and production costs of ceramic materials. This paper briefly reviews the preparation and application research status of rare earth oxides in the ZrO₂ ceramic material, such as single rare earth oxides Y₂O₃, CeO₂, Nd₂O₃, Pr₂O₃\Pr₆O₁₁, La₂O₃, Yb₂O₃, Sm₂O₃ or mixed rare earth oxides. Some existing problems are analyzed and discussed. The prospect on the preparation and application trends of rare earth oxides doped zirconia ceramics is performed.
