Research on the impact of deep mining on the stability of the hanging wall ramp

  • This paper addressed the impact of deep ore fill mining on the stability of hanging wall ramps in the central and northern regions of a gold mine in Jilin, China. A combination of numerical simulations, mechanism analysis, and displacement monitoring was employed to investigate the issue comprehensively. Initially, six mining schemes were proposed based on on-site geology and mining conditions, and corresponding numerical simulations were conducted. Next, the ramp’s stability was analyzed in depth from the perspectives of rock mass quality, mining operations, and support measures. Finally, the ramp deformations were monitored in situ using a multi-point extensometer to assess its stability directly. The results indicated that all proposed mining schemes contribute to the favorable stability of the ramp. Overall, the optimal mining schemes for the northern and central ore bodies were Scheme 1 and Scheme 6, respectively. The stability was attributed to favorable rock mass quality, scientific mining techniques, and practical support measures. The displacement of the monitoring points at the 440 m level in the north region and the 530 m level in the central region were between -3.5 mm and 3.8 mm and between -1.7 mm and 2.3 mm, respectively, indicating satisfactory ramp stability with no significant displacements observed. This article provides crucial guidance and decision-making support for the mine, facilitating the safe development of its gold extraction and offering guidance for the safe mining of similar rare and precious metal deposits.
