Preparation of foamed ceramics from tantalum niobium tailings

  • As a new type of inorganic non-metallic material, foam ceramics have the characteristics of lightweight, fireproof, high-temperature resistance and high porosity, and have received widespread attention in many fields. In this paper, the tantalum niobium tailings from Yichun of Jiangxi province were used as the main raw material, SiC as the foaming agent, supplemented by albite, kaolin and other raw materials to prepare foamed ceramic specimens. The effects of sintering temperature, heat preservation time, blowing agent dine amount and tailings addition amount on the performance of foamed ceramic specimens were investigated by analysis and detection methods, such as XRD and TG-DTA. The results show that a foamed ceramic specimen with a good pore size distribution can be successfully prepared when the amount of tantalum niobium tailings added in is controlled at about 60%, SiC content of 0.5%, sintering temperature at 1 150 ℃ and heat preservation time of 40 min, which provides a certain basis for the reduction of tailings and its high value-added utilization.
