Analysis and discussion on the inducement of oxidation spontaneous combustion of Mirado copper concentrates

To investigate the inducement of oxidation and spontaneous combustion of Mirado copper concentrates, the comparative analysis including XRD, SEM and phase were carried out to the Mirado primary ore, un-sintered copper concentrates and oxidized sintered copper concentrates, respectively. Based on the results of particle size distribution, ignition point, comparative analysis with imported copper concentrates from Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group Co., Ltd and phase analysis experiments, the main cause for oxidation and spontaneous combustion of the Mirado copper concentrates was proposed. Moreover, the effect of addition of retardant on oxidation and spontaneous combustion of Mirado copper concentrates was also investigated.
