Correlation between loading droplet tests and reducing-melting experiments

  • The melting properties of iron-bearing charges under reduced conditions was the most important factor affecting cohesive zone and permeability in blast furnace, given basically stable coke performance and air volume. In order to meet the needs of rapidly changing blast furnace charge structure, this paper uses reducing-melting parameters to characterize the performance of different burden structures. At the same time, melting experiment and the load-drip experiment were carried out under reducing conditions to explore the correlation between reducing-melting parameters and the eigenvalue of droplet under load. The experimental results showed that reducing-melting parameters were in good agreement with the droplet eigenvalue under load. Featuring short cycle and low cost of manpower and material resources, the results of reducing-melting experiment, along with that of the load-bearing droplet experiment, can quickly provide guidance for determining the reasonable blast furnace burden structure.
