Progress in studies on the tuwu porphyry copper deposit

  • Located between Kangguertage and Dacaotan faults, the Tuwu porphyry copper deposit is one of the most important porphyry copper deposits in China. Geochemical characteristics of the volcanic strata, wall-rocks and parent rocks suggest that the deposit first appeared at active continental margins. And isotope and fossil data indicate that the deposit came into being in late Early Carboniferous. Mantle substances mainly contribute to the deposit while a mixture of meteoric water and magma water form ore-bearing fluids. And the adakitic magmas originated from partial melting of subducted oceanic slabs. As the adakitic magmas ascended, the metallogenetic elements accumulated on the top of the rock body. Finally, the deposit was produced.
