An experimental study on gasification of different optical texture of coke by alkali metal (K)

  • Carbon powder reacted with anhydrous potassium carbonate to produce potassium vapor at 1100 ℃, and at the same time, 5L/minCO2 or H2O was injected into the tube furnace to make the potassium vapor and reaction gas act on the coke 2h simultaneously. After the completion of the test, the original coke, reacted coke without potassium and reacted coke within potassium were taken for optical texture identification. It was found that the reactivity of isotropic texture of coke was higher than that of anisotropic texture under alkali-free vapor conditions. However, when alkali vapor and CO2 or H2O acted simultaneously on the coke, it was found that the reactivity ofthe isotropic texture was lower than that of anisotropic texture. This is because the anisotropic texture has a strong adsorption capacity for the alkali, and the alkali metal has a stronger internal permeability, causing more interlayer compoundsproduced, which can catalyze the gasification reaction of coke.
