Preparation of Mo/Cu alloy by non-aqueous gelcasting

  • Mo/Cu alloy was fabricated by non-aqueous gelcasting with gas atomized copper powder and plasma spheroidized molybdenum powder. The influence of dispersant content and solid loading on the viscosity of slurry was studied by analyzing the drying, debinding and sintering process of gelcasting green body. The results show that the viscosity of slurry firstly decreases and then increases with the adding dispersant content. The viscosity of slurry increases proportionately with solid loading. Using acetone as liquid drying medium can completely remove the residual solvent in green body within 6 h. The relative density of sintered body increases with the rising sintering temperature and prolonging sintering time.
