Electrochemical performance of Li-rich material LiLi0.2Mn0.54Co0.13Ni0.13O2 by ZrO2 coating

  • In recent years, the Li-rich materials xLi2MnO3·(1-x) LiMO2(M=Ni, Co, Mn) for lithium ion battery have gained much attention for its low cost and high discharge specific capacity. However, Li-rich materials failed to be mass produced for their advantages of huge irreversible capacity loss, inferior cyclic performance, poor rate capability and voltage decay. Li-excess layered cathode materials LiLi0.2Mn0.54Co0.13Ni0.13O2 were synthesized by a fast co-precipitation method. Its electrochemical performance, especially cyclic performance, was greatly improved by ZrO2 coating.
