Property of 001×8 resin for adsorption RE3+ and impurity ions from ionic-type rare earth lixivium

  • To reveal the regulations of adsorption capacity and separation coefficient during the adsorption of RE3+ and impurity ions from ionic-type rare earth lixivium, the effect of temperature, pH value, dilution ration and flow velocity were investigated through static and dynamic adsorption experiments. The results show that the adsorption capacity and separation coefficient tends to increase first then decrease with the increasing of pH, and reaches maximum at pH 3.5. Adsorption capacity increases with the rising of temperature and tends to be balanced after 313 K. The adsorption capability order of 001×8 resin to all related ions is: RE3+>Al3+>Mg2+>SiO32-. The adsorption capacity to RE3+, SiO32- and Al3+ is proportional to desaturation multiple, and inverse ratio to flow velocity. Mg2+ adsorption reduces with the increase of desaturation multiple or flow velocity. Thus increase of desaturation multiple and decrease of flow velocity are beneficial to the rare earth adsorption capacity and impurities removing capacity of 001×8 resin.
