Synthesis and characterization of LiNi0.6Co0.1Mn0.3O2 cathode materials

Abstract
In this paper, LiNi0.6Co0.1Mn0.3O2 materials were synthesized via co-precipitation and high temperature solid state reaction. The obtained materials were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Then LiNi0.6Co0.1Mn0.3O2 materials were fabricated into a button cell and the electrochemical properties were investigated. The results show that the discharge capacity of LiNi0.6Co0.1Mn0.3O2 material increases with the increase of sintering temperature and shows the optimal electrochemical properties at 900 ℃. The initial discharge capacity of the n(Li)/n(Ni+Co+Mn)=1.09 material reaches 143.7mAh/g at 1C rate with lithium dosing of 1.09 at the room temperature, and the specific discharge capacity of the cathode material retains at 141.3 mAh/g with capacity retention ratio of 98.3 % after 50 cycles.
