Electrochemical behavior of tungstate ion on gold and silver electrode

  • Electrochemical behaviors of tungstate ion on gold, silver electrode were studied by three-electrode system in electrochemical workstation. The results show that WO42- electrochemical reduction process is irreversible on silver and gold electrode in 0.05 mol/L Na2WO4 aqueous system at 298 K. The numbers of transferred electrons of WO42- on silver and gold electrode are 3 and 4, respectively. The reactions of tungstate ion on silver eletrode are WO42-+2e→WO3 2-+O and WO3 2-+e→WO2 - +O, while WO42-+2e→WO32-+O and WO3 2-+2e→WO22-+O are on gold electrode.
