Anticorrosion kinetic behavior of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets in different corrosive climates

Abstract
Corrosion dynamic behavior of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets is investigated in steady-state damp heat and neutral salt spray climates. The effects of alloy composition and different corrosive climates on corrosion velocity are discussed. The electrochemical behavior of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets in different electrolyte solutions is also discussed. It shows that the weight change of the sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets shows obvious parabolic attenuating trend in the hot and humid climate, and the weight change shows first increasing and then decreasing trend in the salt spray climate. The corrosion resistance of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets can improved to a certain extent by Dy partially substitution for Nd and minor Co addition.
