Research on Fe-TiCN Cermet Prepared by Titanium Concentrate

  • Fe-TiCN cermets were prepared with the addition of small amount of Mo and Ni via hot pressing. The Fe-TiCN composite powders were prepared via carbothermic reduction of titanium concentrate. The effect of composition and microstructure on the mechanical properties of Fe-TiCN cermets were studied with XRD, SEM&EDS, chemical analysis and mechanical properties testing. It is shown that the Mo and Ni addition could refine the microstructure of the Fe-TiCN cermets. When the addition of Mo and Ni was 2.5% respectively, the mechanical properties of Fe-TiCN cermet was best.
