Effects of cold rolling reduction and annealing temperature on the microstructures and properties of H62 brass

  • Effects of cold rolling reduction and annealing temperature on microstructures and mechanical properties are investigated using OM, SEM observation and tensile technique. Results show that with the increase of cold reduction and annealing temperature, the average grain size of H62 Brass increases gradually with the decrease of strength, and the total elongation decreases after increasing. When the annealing temperature rises to 400 ℃, the recrystallization of α phase begins. The β phase is distributed uniformly along grain boundaries of α phase. Annealing at 500 ℃ or a higher temperature, the recrystallization of α phase will be completed and the β phase will be redissolved into α matrix. The optimal mechanical properties can be obtained with 56.5 % cold rolling reduction and 600 ℃ annealing of H62 brass.
