Research advances of rare earth Dy’s single molecule magnets

  • The potential application importance in the technology of nano-scale information storage and quan - tum computer manufacturing leads its research to be one of the most active research fields in chemistry and ma - terials science. The Dy-SMMs have high energy barrier values (Ueff), which are the ideal 4f transition metal ions to construct single-molecule magnets because rare earth Dy3+ ion boasts not only high magnetic anisotropy, but also high energy gap and magnitude quantum number (mJ) between ground and first-excited state. The research progress on syntheses, structures and magnetic properties of Dy-SMMs is reviewed in this paper.
