Abstract
A novel compound flocculants was prepared by conducting polymerization reaction with thepolymerization of hydroxy -Fe after acid modification and potassium activation processing of magnesium-rich fibrous silicate clay. The results of adsorption performance test of Zn 2+ showed that the adsorptionabilities were obviously affected by pH value of solution. The removal rate of Zn 2+ is about 20 % whenpH < 2. It reaches 95 % when pH>6. The removal rate of Zn2+ declines with rising initial concentration.Temperature and amount of sorbent affects little on the removal rate. The clay mineral has stronger abilityon Zn2+ removal after modification. Under room temperature, when pH value was within the range of 6~8with 0.3 g dosage, stirred 5 min when the stirring frequency was 500 r/min, then stirred 10 min when thestirring frequency was 100 r/min, the removal rates of Zn2+ were up to 95 % after 60 min holding. Themethod was simple without secondary pollution.
