On rare earth industry's social responsibility: a study from the perspective of stakeholder

  • This paper studies the power mechanism of rare earth enterprises' social responsibility from enterprises themselves, government, consumers, local communities and media supervision based on stakeholder theory. Enterprises' fulfilling their social responsibilities encourages the sustainable company growth rather than contradicts to their profit -making nature. Characteristics of enterprises are important antecedents of social responsibility fulfilling, while enterprise ownership, size and history are important moderators. Government, consumers, local communities and media supervision are external strengthening factors for rare earth enterprises ' social responsibility. It concludes that enterprises themselves are the most important for social responsibility fulfilling. Entrepreneurs' morale level, related laws and regulations, information disclosure and media supervision should be established or promoted.
