Applying cationic polyacrylamide to copper hydrometallurgy

  • This article studies the application of cationic polyacrylamide in copper hydrometallurgy from two aspects, including solution preparation and flocculation effect for more efficient production and favorable technology parameters of flocculation effect. The influences of temperature, stirring speed on the preparation of dilute flocculant solution and the effects of flocculant selection, dosage, settling time on flocculation are studied. The results show that, cationic polyacrylamide dissolves at the fastest rate at the temperature of 40 ℃ with stirring speed of 40 r/min and dissolution time of 2 h. Upon adding 20 mg/L cationic polyacrylamide of 8 million molecular weight to leaching ore pulp with copper hydrometallurgy technology, flocculation effect is the most optimal with sediment time of 2 h.
