Production of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural from Fructose Catalyzed by Lignosulfonic Acid in Ionic Liquid

  • This paper studied the production of 5 -hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) from catalyzed by fructose Lignosulfonic acid in ionic liquid 1 -butyl -3 -methylimidazolium chloride (BmimCl). The effects of catalyst amount, reaction temperature, reaction time and reaction solvent on HMF yield were investigated. The results indicated that fructose was converted into HMF rapidly and efficiently in BmimCl with a 91 % HMF yield. The feasibility of producing HMF from inulin was also studied.
